Steve Wilson

Dear Friends of World Laughter:

I am a psychologist, also known as America's Favorite Joyologist. I am based in Ohio. For more information about me and my work, go to www.stevewilson.com

or mail to: stevespeaks@mindspring.com

With Karyn Buxman (www.HUMORx.com), we have formed the World Laughter Tour www.worldlaughtertour.com

We are bringing Dr. Kataria to the United States in June, 1999, as one leg of the WLT, then on to every continent, bringing the message of the power of laughter, laughter therapy, and the importance of humor to the world.

We have had inquiries from Switzerland, Austria, Italy, England, and Germany. I would like to network all of this together to bring the World Laughter Tour to Europe. I believe that you and your associates would be significant help in that regard. Please correspond with me so that we can develop the details and confirmations.

LAUGHTER CLUB INTERNATIONAL

The World Laughter Tour serves to move forward the synthesis between ancient practices and the modern sciences of laughter. WLT creates ways to share ideas and methods, such as laughter clubs, between and among all people so that everyone can better understand how to benefit from the mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and social transformation potential of laughter and humor.

With that in mind, and so that you can see just some of what can be learned, we share with you the attached article, "Scientific Aspects of Yoga and Laughter," by Dr. Madan Kataria, Bombay, India. In this piece, which appeared in the February 1999 issue of "Your Own Doctor," Dr. Kataria reports his views, observations, and experiences of the connection between yoga and laughter.

Dr. Kataria writes, "Over the past two decades, extensive research has been conducted all over the world and it has been proved that LAUGHTER has a positive impact on various systems of the body. Today, scientists are convinced that laughter has both preventive and therapeutic value. But, these days where is the laughter? It seems that people have forgotten to laugh. Normally, people look for some reason to laugh, but these days because of the stress and strain of modern living, there are very few reasons which make us laugh and there are hundreds of things which can make us frown, howl and cry. Normally, people believe that you need a good sense of humour to laugh, but the reverse is also true. You laugh in a group, your inhibitions are broken and a sense of humour flows. This is exactly the BREAKTHROUGH we have achieved in laughter clubs.

We laugh for NO REASON.

"If you laugh in a group you need not have any reason to laugh. It is highly contagious and comes out easily if done with proper training. Laughter in laughter clubs is the purest laughter because it is not for any reason. It is not directed at others but we learn to laugh at ourselves. This helps to pacify the ego which is the seat of many troubles in life.

"Laughter is an expression of happiness. If we can learn to laugh unconditionally, our happiness too will become unconditional. Therefore, liberate your laughter and happiness from reasons by joining laughter clubs."

We hope you enjoy this article and find it enlightening. There is so much we can learn from each other. WLT brings it to you so that we all can laugh together.
